Touchscreen Voting
Butler County uses touchscreen voting units as its primary method of voting. All touchscreen units are equipped with a Voter-Verified Paper Audit Trail. Thermal printers print a paper version into a sealed container of each voter's ballot to provide a method for voters to confirm their choices were recorded correctly, and for the Board of Elections to audit the election results to ensure all votes are tabulated correctly.
Electronic Poll Books
Butler County also uses Tenex Software Solutions electronic poll book tablets to process all voters at the polls. These iPads enable voters to check in at any station in a polling place rather than finding a precinct-specific table. If a voter arrives at the wrong polling place, poll workers can quickly search for the voter's correct location and email, text and print the address of the location to assist the voter in getting to the right place.
